Sometimes you buy a car for the conveniences and features. Sometimes for the size and versatility. Sometimes for the way it makes you feel behind the wheel.

With the 2024 Mazda CX-30, you get a car that does all of these things! Athletic, with a useful interior and segment-topping furnishings, the CX-30 is a subcompact SUV that gives luxury subcompacts a run for their money. With plenty of new features for 2024, the CX-30 takes another step forward. Let’s take a look!

Performance Features

Driving performance has always been at the heart of Mazda’s ethos, and the 2024 Mazda CX-30 is a shining example of this. Two engines are available in the CX-30 – a naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit, and a turbocharged 2.5-liter version. The base engine provides 191 horsepower on tap, while the turbocharged version cranks it up to 250 horsepower, enough for it to be one of the quickest from 0-60 MPH in the class! At the pump, the CX-30 provides great numbers. Both engines run through a standard old-school six-speed automatic transmission – no CVTs here. The base engine returns 26 MPG city and 33 MPG highway, while the turbocharged unit drops slightly to 22 MPG city and 30 MPG highway.

You can’t talk about Mazda vehicles without talking about their agility. It’s the nimblest subcompact SUV on the market, with crisp steering and predictable body movement. It’s stable, with a low stance that really allows the driver to feel like they are sticking to the road.

Style and Technology

New for the 2024 Mazda CX-30, Ceramic Metallic and Zircon Sand colors offer a unique look. The latter is available solely on the brand-new Carbon Turbo trim. A well-crafted interior sticks out in the segment – upper level trims can stand next to entry-level premium brand models for appointments and features. Premium feel includes available leather upholstery and leather trim.

Space inside the CX-30 is excellent, with 41.7 inches of legroom in the front and 36.3 inches of legroom in the rear. There is seating for five, however with full-size adults it’s best to just stick to two passengers in the second row. Behind that row, there is room for 20.2 cubic feet of cargo; fold the row down, and the CX-30 offers 45.2 cubic feet maximum cargo space.

A standard 8.8-inch central display includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and is paired with a six-speaker sound system. It can be upgraded to an 8-speaker Mazda Harmonic Acoustics or a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system on higher-level models, and a 10.3-inch touchscreen is offered. A head-up display is available, along with remote start and a Qi-Compatible wireless phone charger. All models feature two or more Type-C USB audio inputs.

Safety

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has given the 2024 Mazda CX-30 an overall rating of five out of five stars, the best you can get! Not only does it perform well in collisions, but it also features a wide array of standard driver assistance features. This includes Forward Collision Warning, Forward Automatic Emergency Braking, Len-Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist, Driver Attention Alert, a rearview camera, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Rear Seat Alert. Optional safety features include a surround-view camera system, traffic sign recognition, and front and rear parking sensors.

Trim Levels

Featuring eight different trim levels, including the brand-new Carbon Turbo and Select Sport models, there are plenty of options to pick from on the 2024 Mazda CX-30

At the base level, the 2.5 S features all the standard equipment mentioned previously. The cloth upholstery is durable and smart, and the driver gets a six-way manually adjustable seat – the passenger gets a four-way manual seat. Keyless entry with push-button start makes it easy to get in and get going. Outside, gray metallic 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels, a black rear roof spoiler, and a matte finish front grille all provide great accents to the color you choose.

With some sporty touches, the 2.5 S Select Sport offers a brand-new package this year. Outside, it upgrades from the base model to aluminum roof rails, 18-inch alloy wheels with a black metallic finish, and heated side mirrors. Inside, black leatherette is featured across the seating, while leather is used to wrap the steering wheel and shifter. Dual-zone automatic climate control ups the comfort level.

Adding some luxury on top of sport, the 2.5 S Preferred just makes everything a little bit easier. The front seats are heated, for the cold winter months, and the driver’s seat gets eight-way power adjustability, lumbar support, and memory settings. A sunroof is added, while outside the grille is upgraded to a gloss black version, with silver-finished 18-inch wheels highlighting the look.

Sporting an exclusive Polymetal Gray exterior paint scheme, the 2.5 S Carbon Edition is head-turning inside and out. The seating and interior furnishings are dressed in vibrant red leather. The audio system is upgraded to the eight-speaker unit, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are wireless, reducing the amount of tangle in the cabin.

Topping the range with the base engine, the 2.5 S Premium builds off of the Preferred trim. The 12-speaker Bose system is standard, as is navigation, satellite radio, and a head-up display. The power liftgate makes it easier to load and unload when your arms are full, and standard traffic-sign recognition and adaptive headlights improve the suite of advanced driver assistance features.

New for 2024, the 2.5 Carbon Turbo trim steps up to the turbocharged powertrain. It’s the entry-level turbo model, building off the 2.5 Carbon Edition trim. On top of the upgraded engine, it features the larger 10.3-inch touchscreen and the wireless Qi phone charger. An exclusive look is created thanks to the Zircon Sand exterior color and Terracotta leatherette seats trimmed with black suede – both are only found on the Carbon Turbo.

The 2.5 Turbo Premium combines the Carbon Turbo and Premium trim. While it doesn’t have the exclusive appearance options, this trim has the 10.3-inch touchscreen plus the 12-speaker Bose unit. The steering wheel is heated, while outside it features brighter LED signature headlights and taillights.

All the way at the top of the CX-30 model range, the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus adds a wealth of safety features on top of the Turbo Premium. Traffic-jam assist helps to deal with the headaches of slow-moving stop-and-go traffic, while the surround-view camera makes it easy to see in the CX-30’s blind spots. Rear cross-traffic braking and reverse automatic emergency braking both make backing out of parking spaces and parallel parking easier!

The 2024 Mazda CX-30 brings some great new ideas to the table while staying a step ahead of competitors with agility and luxury. It’s an intelligent, entertaining package that is perfect for families, commuters, first-time buyers, and so many more – come check out one of the eight great trims, including the new Select Sport or Carbon Turbo, at Lancaster Mazda today!
